Quilpie State College (established in 1918) is situated in South West Queensland, approximately 1000 kilometres west of Brisbane, within the township of Quilpie.

All students from Preparatory to Year 10 enjoy learning across the Australian curriculum in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, and the Key Learning Areas (KLAs) of the Arts, Health and Physical Education (HPE), Studies of Society and the Environment (SOSE), Languages Other Than English (LOTE) - Japanese (Years 5-8) and Technology which includes Industrial Design & Technology, Home Economics and Information Communication Technology (ICT). We have a strong sporting culture with students advancing to district, regional and state levels in a variety of sports.

The school aims to provide a learning environment that is responsive and future orientated, through learning programs that equip students for the demands and rigours of a changing world. Our participation in the community and across the district is paramount as we highly value student engagement despite our remote location.

Our teaching facilities include general classrooms, a manual arts room, resource centre, science/art and home economics rooms. In 2010 all school buildings were fully air-conditioned through the Cooler Schools Program.

Every general classroom in the school utilises an interactive whiteboard and computers with access to the internet. Students in Years 5-10 have access to their own laptop through our 1-1 Laptop Program. The teaching staff plan and implement rich learning experiences using iPads, laptops and other interactive technology across the curriculum.

Whilst we are a Preparatory to Year 10 school we provide learning experiences for 0-5 year olds through our G.A.M.E. (Getting a Meaningful Education) Program, held every Wednesday morning. Students in Year 11 and 12, who wish to stay in Quilpie and study, can access our support to complete their distance education studies.

Students and staff are encouraged to 'Work to Excel' in all areas of schooling. Though small, the multi-age classes, involving professional staff and extensive facilities offer students a quality education whilst retaining the values of a family oriented rural school.
